Prakash reaches out to the scattered and poverty
stricken visually challenged population. Relation- building, practical help, networking and rehabilitation are the services delivered. Poor, visually challenged women migrate to Mumbai to fulfill their dream of gaining employment and security. But these women are triply disadvantaged due to their economic status, gender and disability. Worse, due to the lack of permanent accommodation and facilities for these women, they are often destitute in Mumbai.
Our staff members build friendship contacts, assist in reading and writing letters, accompany them during travel, network with existing institutions for support and organize get-togethers for these persons. All our outreach activities are conducted in the vicinity of their residences, livelihood operations such as hostels, housing colonies and railway platforms.
